how to do a cheats alcohol background

I was asked on my group about alcohol inks and came up with this idea so they could give it a try without going the expense of buying. I must addmit that all though the results are not the same it dose give a pleasing soft result

http://www.rangerink.com/videos/videos_tim_alcoholinks.htm If the link works ok it will take you to a video by Tim Holtz useing the Alcohol inks but if you don't want to go to the expense of buying try using any permanent marker (peeloff pens) and rubbing alcohol on a piece of felt. The result is not the same but still makes a lovely back ground I'm quite pleased with theses and will use them, what you do have to remember when stamping onto alcohol backgrounds not use stazon because that is also alcohol based it could react and ruin what you have done, use an oil based ink such as archival or versafine.
Since writing this post the ProMarkers have become very popular and work well too

A is for Acetate and Alchohol inks

The image is stamped with archival ink onto acetate, the alcohol inks on the reverse and the butterfly was then coloured with a permanent marker. I tryed to glue it onto the glitter card with glossy accents but it didn't work so settled for brads.

I've set myself a challenge

Ok so I'm still thinking about Tims Tags they are so good and use everything I don't have lol well I have the inks.

I have decided to set myself a challenge and that is to go through the alphabet with techniques products or styles, so here's my first offering .

A is for Acrylic Dabber at the moment I only have 3 colours cranberry, gold and sandal

so Ive done 2 atc's oh don't you just love making them :)

I have dragged all 3 colours across black card stock and stamped my image with Adirondack's white pigment ink it really does dry very well on the dabbers........I call this one ghost rider lol,

the second one I have done the moon with the gold though a punch hole and swiped the foreground with sandal stamped the bird with the same white and embossed with enchanted gold. the writing is done with a pen and then embossed.

More for Christmas

Still going strong with the Christmas cards, this was such a quick and simple card to make. The first one I did was just using denim adirondack ink pad and I put the sky on with a brayer I liked the way it gave it movement and depth this one wasn't quite finished when I scaned but it has the glitter on the trees I added text to the bottom and grounded the trees.
Incase your wondering I used regular card stock.

This is done the same way but with a big and juicey pad the trees ended up lower down so put the text in the sky.

You don't have to use a brayer for the sky as I later did one dtp with the distress ink and that gave a far more even flat tone.

I used prisma glitter with the sukra glaze pen it looks so pretty as it seems to take on the colour of the inks, boy do I sparkle :)
