Mothers Day card and butterfly card

I can't believe I have actually made a side stepper card it's not what  I set out to do at all ! but I had  one sitting on my desk I'd received a friend so took the measurments from that I think I must have borrowed someone elses head lol  but I know my mum will like it :) I've used the mover and shaper dummy  borrowed from a friend such a nice size and covered it with paper, stamped and cut out the letters on the same paper .
Beleive me it was so hard keeping it clean lol I'm so messy with glue
Make my Monday's Challenge is for a Mother Day card or a thank you card
Here's the Birthday card with the butterfly I made for dear Neet with the butterfly made on grunge board as you can see the heating of the distress embossing powder on the tape has pulled the wings giving it lovely movement

Little fishy

These little fishy were sent to me many years ago die cut in coloured card,  not me really but I never throw anything away you never know when they will come in handy :) I have done the same as on the butterflies and punch dots to decorate my fish but used a holographic embossing powder which lets the under colour shine through they do look sweet :) the background is stamped on glossy black card with versamark ink and dusted with perfect pearls making a cheerful set of atc's for a swap
Thank you for popping by

Mosaic Butterflies

After seeing Sandra's butterfly tag for Tim's 12 tags of 2012 I thought I had better go and check it out Wow what a fab idea I hooked and spent the day yes they are time consuming to make well I thought so lol , I've used the spellbinders butterfly and gave it my own twist with a ribbon body and wire anteni , I did one on the grungeboard and used distress embossing powder but I'll show that on a card later ;)
These one are done on card from a cereal box 2 are snipped paper and 2 I've used punched shapes
The the white background is that jar of snowflake I bought years ago and never really used but makes a perfect backdrop for the mosaic, 2 darker ones are using some mixed up embossing powders ( you know that little pot you throw odd bits into )
Tip
When heating the EP start in the centre as the tape will shrink at the edges, nice on the grunge as it pulls the wings giving them movement, but looks ugly on the card
Right off to make some fish now

I've been catching up on the dreaded and some swaps not to mention that my craftroom is all over the house at the moment as the walls need repairing so finding the right stash to use is maddening !
A couple of atc's using masks
A Kanban stamp paper pieced
and last a card for a nursery rhyme swap, again stamped onto paper and cut out .
I had a fab day out yesterday at the Stamp Attic ( what an amazing shop ) where I did a workshop with Hels and I loved the faux suede technique she taught us it felt so real :)

Sports mad at Just for Fun

Looks like you enjoyed Neet's vintage men  and we certainly saw some wonderful mixed media pieces :)Now Neet would like you think of a sporting card for the man in your life, mind you I did have to smile when we had a few black and white sport themed cards at the begining of the month so now you can colour them in tehe
In this house if it hasn't got an engine they're not interested lol with snooker being the exception . I have made a backgound as seen in my last post with butterscotch and cranberry and simply stamp my image ,
I can't think why making mens cards has brought out the c&s crafter in me lol
Hope you will come and see what Neet and Zoe have made at Just for Fun
The Creative Crew are also having men as their theme

Mono Printing with a brayer

I thought with all the talk of mono printing I'd show one of  the ways I like to make backgrounds

Ink up your brayer 50-50 with two colour inks ( or use a big and juice/ kalidacolour pad ) here I have used eggplant and lettuce.

Roll the brayer back and forth on a clear acrylic block this will blend the 2 colours and spritz with water or a water and mica mix the amount of water will depend on how absorbent your paper or card is .

Next stamp it onto your card. Now you have a unique background for stamping on or die cutting

Vintage men at Just For Fun

Didn't you all do well with the black and white mens cards :) and I'm sure you will find this weeks of vintage mens cards just as much fun, you will won't you Neet said you will love it . This month I have the privilege of asking Valerie to be our guest designer she has such a wonderful way with paper paint and ephemera
Another reasonably clean card from me on kraft card with Tims car and cog and a rather handsome chap from I know not where.
So it's thinking caps on and we hope you will join us at Just for Fun

Monday, 6 February 2012

I had a swap tag to make where we had to use a scrunched bag so I used it to apply some gesso to the card stock before inking and stamping and thought I'd try a different colour combination on my tag DI's in dusty concord, sugar spun, bundled sage and forest moss.

The Artistic stamper and Sunday stamps Challenge both wat to see hearts

Medieval Times at just for Fun

In days of old when Knights were bold and wenches hearts were won, he'd don a suit in hot pursuit until until the job was done

It's the last week of my choice at Just For Fun of time travelling and we are taking a big leap this time back to the medieval period where fact and fiction till us stories of knight slaying dragons, maidens in distress and magic in the woods .
I have taken my inspiration  from the illuminated pages made by the monks the frame is made from a Crafty Individual boarder stamp as is the little flourish ( I used the flitter glue and metal flakes wow is it good and so easy to use )on a distress ink background and a TH flourish peeking out from behind my maiden

Now don't forget to check out Neet and Zoe's creations for more inspiration :)
Aren't you glad I take take you back any further to the prehistoric era lol

Art Nouveau at Just for Fun

I hope you are enjoying our little travel through time at Just For Fun :)
Going back just a little further this week at Just for Fun with Art Nouveau for me it's a very feminine style, rich in colours and texture and so organic
For my piece this week I have embossed a piece of foil with an image I printed off the Internet to use as my patten and distressed with black acrylic paint and mounted onto the front of a note book.I am please with it but just can't make up my mind whether to add ribbons and the such like to the spine

To find out more and see what Zoe and Neet have created please visit Just for Fun and I hope Bloger is being kind to everyone after the troubles of last week
It's also anything but a card at Simon Says
