Wax Resist

Gingersnaps Spicy supply challenge is to use Wax so have been mulling this over the the holiday and thought owww wax resist no mess no heat just  a white wax crayon or you could use a candle .
If you stamp before doddling your image will be to the foreground and if you stamp after the doodle it will reciede. so I've had a little play and made a card and an ATC book cover

The card and book are done on regular card stock and distress inks, there are 3 signature so thats 12 atc's held in place by wrapping with fibers and a hair tidy to keep it all in place, the ATC is on glossy card  I simply coloured the area were I didn't want the ink.
Off to play some more now lol

Anything goes at Just for Fun

How are you all ? were you good and did Santa bring you some new toys to play with if so why not get creative and show them off here at Just for Fun as it's anything goes .
I have had a play with an old toy had to blow the dust off mind you lol
I've taken 2 files from my Silhouette library and joined them together, not sure if you can see but I have used green and pink chalks on the flourish and bird and distress ink for the edge this was then mounted on a background made with reinkers on tissue paper. Zoe and Neet have of course come up with fab ideas :)
Have a wonderful New Year all and I look forward to visiting you

My first Journal page

Art Journaling is something I have admired for a while out there in blog land and watching on you tube and it seems that anything goes you just have to express yourself which I do find hard at times, you just have to let it take you there, so when Isa set a challenge at the Craft Barn for a journal page I thought oh ! but the theme is building and mt thought went to the difference between town and country have lived in both

I've used my A5 sketch pad a variety of crayons inks and pens I really didn't think I would end up with anything worth showing but the OH thought it turned out ok and that's a compliment from him lol
There are some wonderful inspiration on the Craft Barn blog
Oh you might notice a spelling mistake but those who know me would think it odd is there wasn't one somewhere spell checker is a godsend
TTFN and thanks for stopping by

Week 47 at Just for Fun

A quiet week for Zoe's choice of seasons and summer at Just for Fun, but so lovely to see those of you taking a break from the Christmas cards :)  now we are revisiting autumn on this the winter solstice so days can only get lighter and hopefully brighter from today .
For my creation this week I've used part of a stamp from Third coast a fairy among the brambles, my OH think she looks a bit scary. I've made a chip board frame by glueing layers together cut with a nestability, coloured some card with the autumn DI's love that seedless preserve just the right colour for all those autumn fruits, die cut some leaves and used candy cane stickles for the berries , so if you have time to play along with us this week Zoe Neet and myself will only be to happy to come and vist you :)

Two for one

This card uses an old free stamp from the Craft Stamper back in January 2009 never used it at the time but this year it really spoke to me, Make My Monday want to see a red ribbon and Crafty Cardmakers would like you to use the same stamp in 3 different ways .
I've stamped direct onto the card then added a stamped masked and watercolour background stamped the flower again and coloured with promarker and decoupaged toped off with the Tim Holtz bird and a red ribbon

As you can see I did get a bit carried away lol the card atc and tag were for a swap and the last card that took ages to make is for my mum

It's getting warmer at Just for Fun

We're here with the second week of Zoe's choice at Just for Fun
After winter comes the spring, longer day and warming sun bringing forth new life and for me a favourite sight are the woods full of bluebells of which there are plenty of near to me :)
I hope I have captured that feeling of a bright day in the woods with an alcohol background and trees from Kanban and a suggestion of bluebells . Zoe and Neet of course have their own vision of spring which are just wonderful
Hope you are keeping nice and warm and dreaming of days to come

Make your own flowers for the Craft room Challange

If you are a reader of my blog you will know how I love to make flowers :)
This card shows 3 different flowers a tiny rosette flower a canvas flower and a tiny paper flower. The base card has been embossed with Craft concept folder, a piece of glossy card stamped and embossed with a daisy background from the Stampman and then brayerd just love the way it's left a halo of white around the little flowers.
There is lots of lovely inspiration on the Craft room challenge blog :)

Baby it's cold outside

It's the 1st of December and Zoe's choice at Just for Fun and she would like to see your interpretation of winter. Winter always bring to mind a poem we learnt at school. When the north wind doth blow we shall have snow and what will the robin do then, poor thing
I have used a shallow tray into which I have added a background of distress inks and Penny black trees a TH flourish to represent the cold wind part of a TH on the edge twigs and of course the TH bird.

Winter and Summer

Now the prompt for the November Craft Barn calendar week 11 was a foggy day with grey yellow and bare trees , woke in the morning after making it in my sleep as we do sometimes lol but could I find the stamp I wanted to use not on your nelly :( so gave up looking for it after a day and had to rethink the whole thing
I've used the Crafty Individual trees and no inks this time but chalks instead .
The second which is week 3 green and flowers and I love how this turned out the background is done with Neocolors watersoluble crayons and stamp from Stampdous

Don't for to check out the blog their they have an amazing blog giveraway :)

Favourite shape at just for Fun

We certainly saw some wonderful techniques this last week :) from all you wonderful crafters
This is the last week of Neet's favourites at Just for Fun
What's your favourite shape ? maybe a die cut or card shape like Zoe
Well mines the Paisley from spellbinders I've used the largest a number of times as a tag but thought for a change I'd use a smaller one on a card inked up some paper with the new seedless preserve chipped and stamped my image with chipped sapphire cut 2 out and had a happy accident 2 make a heart shape :) nothing was planned it all just sort of happen as I went along, I've used sequin waste for the dots with spun sugar on the base card
Looking forward to seeing what you can do with your favourite shape

Techniques galore at Just for Fun

Well I didn't think it could get any harder but Neet's choice this week is favourite techniques ! oh what to do I have all ready done a few this month bleaching , kiss resist, wrinkle free and letterpress with embossing folders ............. wow there are just so many out there
Ok so here we go with my first Christmas card of the season embossed with snowflake tinsel and water coloured with distress inks and perfect pearl not difficult but effective :) I use an acrylic block for my pallet and just touch the corner of my ink pad to it to lay down some ink then spritz with a little water, pick up a little PP with my paint brush and mix, a little goes along way . I used a new colour Biscotti which is a lovely compromise between the pearl and the gold :)

I hope you can see the subtle shimmer the PP has given.
Now it's time for you to have a play and share with us at Just for Fun
Oh and do check out Zoe's and Neets they are extra fabulous week :)

Autumn at the Craft Barn

I wonder if I'll be able to catch on the calender's I've missed :) I'd bought the 12 little things when it was announced so need to use them and thought what a nice little gift it would make for some friends and family so if some are not my usual style it's because they are made for someone else
Week 10 is Autumn colour and leaves
Well after making such a rich colour background with my distress inks and gold spray I was going to die cut leaves out of it but changed my mind and stamped in black archival keeping it simple.
Week two is red, hearts and embossing
Yes I know this is a little on the cute side but I like the sentiment which says "three things in life that should never be broken Toys Promises and Hearts"
I stamped and embossed the image as I don't have a memento ink pan and coloured with promarkers, I then drew the patten on the bottom to match the stamp.the hearts are then stamped with the new Festive Berry DI

Yes it's another easel card lol

It's all about the background

The Artistic Stamper wants to see backgrounds and Let's Ink it Up want to see a favourite techniques .
I've used Iced spruce for the background then stamped with bleach then used the Spun Sugar distress stain another fav as half the bottles gone all ready some White D stain dabed on with my finger then stamped with the Seedless preserves.
I could have dressed it up more but I like it the way it is :)

Week 1 is blue and crackle. I've used Dreamweaver crackle paste and coloured it with chipped sapphire  DI love this Papermaina stencil
Week 9 is back to school. I've used Tim's on the edge die to cut my backround from chipboard ( thanks Marie I've even gone out and bought a big shot ) made the back ground with some old pages from one of my sons school books and added some red pen nope it was not there but we all remember the dreaded red pen lol distressed with old paper DI made a page with a joureling stamp and that title why was it always what I did in the holidays for the first day back in september lol then you pen leaks and you try and clean it up and it smudges. I had great fun and lots of memories making this one

Kiss Resist Technique

Not as daunting as you might think you just need the right stamps :)

You will need
Glossy card
Dye ink
Versamark
1 patterned line stamp
1 mainly solid shadow type stamp

Ink up the detailed stamp with the coloured dye ink and the solid stamp with the versamark ink, now press the two together this will transfer the dye ink onto the solid stamp, next stamp the solid stamp onto the glossy card and allow to dry ( if doing this on regular card stock now is the time to emboss with clear embossing powder )

Now you can add ink to the background and wipe off the resist area

If you chooses to use a text stamp remember it will stamp out in reverse.

Also check out Neets Resist Techinques
Stamps used Tim Holtz and Anna Griffin Allnight media

Recycled bag

Here's the finished bag I have been making from recycled carrier bags . I think I must have started cutting the strips narrower as it started going in at the top so instead of being a tote bag it's now a hand bag. I had one of those eureka moments while sleeping on how to make the handle lol I hope you will all carry on recycling and putting things that would other wise be dicarded to good use as we have seen some clever ideas this last month :)
It actually measures 10" at the base and 9/12 to the top of the handle just enough pace for a purse, phone, note book , pen and lippy

Thursday, 27 October 2011

Here we are at the last week of re/up cycling and it has been a challenging month and even though it's my choice I have found this one the hardest. So this week it's any found object, be it natural or man made .
No really much crafting here more an as semblance of objects flower made from a beer can painted with inca paint a broken pot from the garden some lichen and seed heads found on a walk with a stone with a hole from my pot of stones and some autumn foliage from the garden and all stuck with a hot glue gun
I left it on the windowsill as it looked quiet at home there :)
Zoe and Neet have both come up makes this week me up with some great creations

What's in your bedroom

Well we are still recycling things from around the house at Just For Fun so what can you up-cycle from your boudoir :)  or sewing box.Well I had lots of ideas dress up a perfume bottle decoupage an old handbag with some of the pages I cut out of the book, jazz up a pair canvas shoes but ..................... when your mojo goes on holiday with out you all these things seemed so daunting I would love to see if you can make them come to life for me :) so my creation for this week is very simple I coloured some air dry clay with wild plum AI and formed it to make a frame for a mirror I took out of an old eye make-up case and to hang it I've use those annoying bits of ribbon they put on the shoulder of garment, a great source of free narrow ribbon
You must check out what Zoe and Neet have made and Neets guest designer Hazel all stunning pieces
Thank you for stopping by and hope you will find time to join us this week

Stamping with bleach

You know how it is your head is full of ideas yet you you pick up paper and ink you go dhuuuur where do I start and what ever you do just looks pants and I talking the navy blue school sort :(
So with the mojo on holiday I thought I'd share with you a tag I made for a swap a couple of weeks ago as it has now been received
I did a wrinkle free background with wild honey and spun sugar DI stains and then used a foam stamp with bleach, then stamped my main images with the wild honey DI's, punched a scollaped boarder and used the waste to create some  extra detail
Hope you like this simple tag and thanks for stopping by :)

Recycling in the Kitchen Challenge at JFF

Well it looks like I took you all by surprise last week but hope you agree we did see some imaginative recycling of different paper
This week it's all in the kitchen, all those free containers, tins and plastic, will you be brave enough to make your own stamp using vegetables or a cork or maybe a piece of polystyrene the possibilities are endless remember Neets bag from a milk carton. So with all these ideas why did I do a tag I hear you ask, well I have used a cereal box Shreddies nice and white on the inside :) and takes ink beautifully ( I often use cereal boxes for die cutting ) and then what I haven't tried before the inner sleeve that holds the cereal I used a nestabilities cut out 4 circles and inked with AI 's I was very pleased at how it held it's shape when crumpled :) The back ground is brayed through a piece of netting from some lemons just love how random it is and to finish off some onion skin and the handle of a carrier bag

Last but not least a bag I'm still working on made out carrier bags simply cut off the bottom and then into strips loop them together to form your yarn and crochet away :)

Zoe and Neet have both come up with something completely different :)
Have fun and thinking out of the box is a must for this one so put the little grey cells to work

Bewitching night

Phew I have finally made time to create something for a challenge, there are so many great challenges I've missed doing and I've only caught the the Dragons dream by the skin of my teeth and it's anything but a card at Fashionable Stamping and forgettting Grudgy Monday is back with a Tim Holtz Halloween theme
I've used 2 stamps from Tim Holtz the Witch from Grunge Gallery art stamps and the bats unknown.
I made a spritz with weathered wood and blush PP, masked the moon and witch and sprayed the background with the mixture and Crafty Notions Poppy.Oh yes and there's some holographic embossing powder call Spellbinder on the dancing flames
I don't think this red sky means Shepard's delight lol

A new month at Just for Fun

I did enjoy looking at all the creation for anything but a card, you did us proud at Just for Fun last week :)
This month it my turn to choose the theme I have chosen to recycle any and everything from around the home starting with paper no not the stroke able kind the stuff you would throw away books magazines brochures there's just so much you can do with it all. So this week I've done 2 pieces the first something I've been wanting to do for ages and that's turn a book into a box
I think this will make a perfect gift box, after cutting out the center I have lined it with some stamped paper,  for the out side I have simply use the inka paints boy do they give great coverage :) I have left open space on the cover so I can add something not sure what yet as I haven't decided who will get this for Christmas .
Then at the weekend I saw this stunning image in the paper and thought that would look good on a tag so I used one of the pages stuck it to a tag and coloured with distress satins

I know some of you are going to really enjoy this challenge but if you want more ideas of what you can do then check out the serendipity turorial and what my partners in crime Zoe and Neet have come up with :)

Anything but a card at Just for Fun

Hear we are at the last week of September and the weather has been so nice here in the south it actually feels more like summer than the summer we've had :)
We saw some inventive shaped creations last week from boxes and cards to wonderful hangings .
This week at Just For Fun you can create anything of your choice as long as it's NOT a CARD or overly cute we do like to see the messier side of crafting lol
For me this is the first time I have actually done something on a canvas, it's covered with some TH paper and inked with distress inks, I've inked through a stencil with more DI inks and embossed with clear embossing powder
